Why North Cyprus? From Switzerland, Germany, Kosovo, Italy, Albania, North Macedonia and Greece

Thousands of people travel for fertility treatment every year. Wherever you are, the questions worth asking are the same: what is allowed at home, what it costs, how you reach the clinic and what the stay looks like. Here are our answers, country by country.

Country by country

Rules at Home, Cost at Home, How You Reach Us

Choose your country. Each section answers the same four questions. Flight details are indicative; the coordinator confirms the routes our patients use.

Switzerland

The market where the difference is greatest: egg donation is banned, and own-egg IVF is paid entirely out of pocket.

Rules at home
Egg donation is prohibited by law in Switzerland. Own-egg IVF is permitted, but the procedure itself is not covered by basic insurance (Grundversicherung); only certain diagnostic tests and hormonal stimulation are covered, for a limited time.
Cost at home
One IVF cycle typically costs CHF 5,000–8,000, up to around CHF 9,000 depending on the clinic, plus medication. With us, you get the price in writing within one working day: an itemised quote in euro, everything included, with the approximate value in CHF for orientation. Billing is always in euro.

Flights and journey
From Zurich or Geneva to Larnaca (around 3.5–4 hours' flight), or to Ercan via Istanbul. Our driver meets you at the airport; the clinic is around 40 minutes from Ercan and around an hour from Larnaca.
A typical stay
Most patients from Switzerland come once, for around 10 days: tests and preparation at home, fertilisation and transfer with us. Your partner stays with you, accommodation and transfers are included.

Ask from Switzerland

Germany

As in Switzerland: egg donation banned, long waits and strict limits on what is allowed.

Rules at home
Egg donation is prohibited under the Embryonenschutzgesetz. Own-egg IVF is permitted; statutory insurance (GKV) covers 50% of up to three cycles, but only for married couples and within age limits (the woman under 40). Outside those limits everything is paid out of pocket.
Cost at home
One IVF cycle typically costs €3,000–5,000, and with medication often €4,500–6,500 per attempt. With us, you get the price in writing within one working day: an itemised quote in euro, with medication and accommodation included in the 10- and 21-day packages.

Flights and journey
From Frankfurt, Munich or Stuttgart to Larnaca (around 3.5–4 hours), or to Ercan via Istanbul. Airport pick-up and drop-off are included in every package.
A typical stay
One trip of around 10 days for most. If you prefer the whole cycle by the sea, the 21-day package includes three weeks in an apartment.

Ask from Germany

Kosovo

Local clinics exist, but donor options are limited and laboratories often older. With us: a European-standard lab, one specialist all the way, no waiting list.

Rules at home
Our coordinator explains the local rules on egg donation and what clinics in Kosovo offer, with up-to-date information, in the conversation. In North Cyprus egg donation is legal, anonymous and regulated.
Cost at home
We do not compete on price alone. What you pay for with us is a new ISO 9001 certified laboratory, the same specialist at every step, and a written quote in euro with no extras, within one working day.
Flights and journey
From Pristina usually via Istanbul to Ercan (around 1.5 hours + 1.5 hours' flight), or to Larnaca with a connection. Our driver meets you at either airport.
A typical stay
Around 10 days for the standard package, with preparation at home. The initial assessment can be done in a long weekend.

Ask from Kosovo

Italy

Donation has been legal since 2014, but donors are scarce, waits long and prices high.

Rules at home
Egg donation (fecondazione eterologa) has been permitted in Italy since the Constitutional Court ruling of 2014, but local clinics rely mostly on imported eggs: donors are scarce and waiting lists long. In North Cyprus there is no waiting list.
Cost at home
We do not play games with the price: a written, itemised quote in euro within one working day, which does not change when you arrive. Full packages with accommodation and medication, no hidden extras.
Flights and journey
From Milan or Rome to Larnaca (around 3–3.5 hours' flight), or to Ercan via Istanbul. Transfers included.
A typical stay
One trip of around 10 days, with preparation at home under our remote guidance.

Ask from Italy

Albania

Clinics in Tirana are well known and often compared on price. We invite you to compare the laboratory and the doctor.

Rules at home
For the local rules on egg donation and what clinics in Albania offer, our coordinator gives you an honest, up-to-date comparison. In North Cyprus egg donation is legal and regulated, with no waiting list.
Cost at home
Payment in euro, no hidden extras, with a written quote within one working day. What differs is not only the price, but the new laboratory with 2026 equipment and the fact that the same specialist follows you from the first scan to the transfer.
Flights and journey
From Tirana usually via Istanbul to Ercan (around 2 hours + 1.5 hours), or to Larnaca with a connection. Our driver meets you at the airport.
A typical stay
Around 10 days for the standard package. Many patients combine the initial assessment with a few days' rest by the sea.

Ask from Albania

North Macedonia

As in Kosovo: limited donor options at home, older laboratories. With us, a European-standard lab and no waiting list.

Rules at home
Our coordinator explains the local rules and what clinics in North Macedonia offer, with up-to-date information. In North Cyprus egg donation is legal, anonymous and regulated.
Cost at home
A written, itemised quote in euro, within one working day, with no hidden extras.
Flights and journey
From Skopje usually via Istanbul to Ercan (around 1.5 hours + 1.5 hours), or to Larnaca with a connection. Transfers included.
A typical stay
Around 10 days for the standard package, with preparation at home.

Ask from North Macedonia

Greece

Greece is itself a major IVF destination. What we offer differently: care in your own language, one-to-one, in a brand-new clinic.

Rules at home
In Greece IVF and egg donation are legal and large clinics are plentiful. We are not a large clinic: we are a boutique clinic where you are known by name, where the same specialist follows you at every step, and where the coordinator speaks Albanian.
Cost at home
We do not compete on price alone. Our packages are all-inclusive and you get the price in writing within one working day, but the reason to choose Fertina is the one-to-one care and the new laboratory.
Flights and journey
From Athens to Larnaca (around 1.5 hours' flight), then with our driver to Famagusta (around an hour). Transfers included.
A typical stay
Proximity makes it easy: the initial assessment within a weekend, treatment in around 10 days.

Famagusta

Recover by the Mediterranean

Fertility treatment works best when your body and mind are at ease. That is why we built our clinic on the seaside in Famagusta, not in a busy city centre.

With golden sandy beaches minutes from our door, the warm Mediterranean air and gentle pace of life create the ideal environment to recover between appointments. Many of our patients tell us their time in Famagusta felt more like a restorative break than a clinical trip: quiet harbour-side restaurants, historic streets, and long coastal walks while your treatment does its work.

Unlike the larger, high-volume clinics elsewhere on the island, Fertina is a boutique practice where you are known by name, not by number. Every patient has the same specialist from first scan to transfer. It is a deliberate choice we made when founding the clinic, and our patients consistently tell us it makes all the difference.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is IVF in North Cyprus safe?

Our clinic operates under TRNC healthcare legislation, holds ISO 9001 international certification, and was built new with 2026-generation laboratory equipment. Safety also depends on honest patient selection: we assess every patient individually and decline treatment we do not believe is medically appropriate.

How many trips will I need?

Usually one. Preliminary tests can be done at home, consultations happen by video or WhatsApp, and most patients travel once for around 10 days at the treatment stage. Those who prefer to have the entire cycle at the clinic choose the 21-day stay.

Which airport should I fly to?

Two options: Larnaca in the south of the island (direct flights from Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Greece), with a road transfer to Famagusta, or Ercan via Istanbul (the usual route from Tirana, Pristina and Skopje). Our driver collects you either way; transfers are included in every package.

Can my partner and I both come?

Please do. Package accommodation covers both partners, with breakfast included in the hotel options. Famagusta is an easy place to spend ten days together, and treatment tends to go better when nobody is doing it alone.

What paperwork or preparation do I need?

A valid passport, your medical and cycle history, and any recent test results you have. The coordinator sends a personalised checklist after your free consultation, including which tests can be done through your doctor or a local lab before you travel.

What if something goes wrong after I get home?

You keep a direct WhatsApp line to the coordinator and clinical team. We coordinate with clinics near you for scans or follow-up where needed, and we provide complete treatment records for your doctor.
